AUTOR · PERSONA
Robert F. Butts
Su oficio lo dice él en una línea: «I write down his material verbatim, then add my own notes» «Roberts — The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events (1981) · p. 14».
The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events (1981) · p. 14».

«Seth is a highly creative “energy personality essence,” as he calls himself, who speaks through Jane while she’s in a trance or dissociated state» — presenta a Seth con la fórmula que, dice, el propio Seth usa, y sitúa a Jane Roberts en trance o estado disociado.
«By his own definition Seth is no longer a physical being, although he’s told us he’s lived a number of previous lives; thus, ideas of reincarnation enter into his material. Mass Events is the sixth1 book that Seth has produced — all of them with Jane’s active cooperation, obviously, as well as my own» — atribuye a Seth la producción de los libros y reparte la cooperación entre Jane Roberts y él mismo.
«Often Jane has little memory of the information she delivers as, or for, Seth. She began speaking for him in December 1963, and shows no signs of slackening her output» — dice que ella a menudo recuerda poco de lo que entrega, y data en diciembre de 1963 el comienzo.
«At times her Seth voice can be very powerful indeed, with an accent I have yet to succeed in describing. When she’s really into her trance state, her blue-gray eyes become much darker, much more luminous and penetrating» — describe lo que él ve y oye durante la sesión: la voz, el acento que dice no saber describir, el cambio de los ojos de ella.
«I started the first rough draft for these notes on April 16, 1975» — data el arranque de sus notas introductorias al primer volumen de The Unknown Reality.
«Although they bear my name, before I was finished with them I’d had plenty of help from my wife, Jane Roberts, and from Seth, the nonphysical entity who speaks through her while she’s in trance» — reparte el crédito de sus propias notas: llevan su nombre y las cerraron, dice, Jane y Seth.
«Not only would the expanded format be something out of the ordinary in itself, but it meant that with two volumes I’d have the room I needed for notes and references; excerpts from Jane’s ESP class sessions, as well as from “regular” sessions dated before and after the production time of “Unknown” Reality; a little of Jane’s poetry; and appendixes — all of which I thought would add extra dimensions of consciousness to the books» — dice qué gana él con la edición en dos volúmenes: sitio para notas y referencias, excerpta de las clases de ESP, poesía de Jane y apéndices.
«Before the session, Jane said she felt rather nervous; she thought Seth would start his own book this evening. Her feeling of nervousness is quite unusual in these sessions. I offered reassurances, telling her to forget the whole thing and let the book come out in its own way» — una de sus acotaciones de sesión, entre paréntesis y en su voz, en el arranque de Seth Speaks: registra el nerviosismo de ella y lo que él le respondió.
«I’m very fortunate that the help of all of those I’ve mentioned, and of others, too, is enabling me to keep the promise I made to Jane on her deathbed ten years ago, when she asked me to publish all of her work» — declara en noviembre de 1994 la promesa que dice haber hecho a Jane Roberts en su lecho de muerte: publicar toda su obra.
«I know that my wife lives within me now, as I do within her “where she is now” — just as we shared ourselves with each other throughout the nearly twenty-nine years of our marriage» — dice cómo entiende su situación diez años después de la muerte de ella, y mide el matrimonio en casi veintinueve años.
«was my art teacher in the Sayre, Pennsylvania, high school from 1935 until my graduation in 1937. Through an arrangement with my mother, Stella Butts, Miss Bowman loaned me the money to attend commercial art school in New York City from 1939 to 1941. I was drafted into the Air Force in 1942, during World War II, and repaid the loan over my three years of service» — en una nota suya a la sesión del 10 de septiembre da su propia cronología: bachillerato en Sayre, Pensilvania, hasta 1937; escuela de arte comercial en Nueva York de 1939 a 1941; reclutado en la Air Force en 1942. Nombra a su madre, Stella Butts.
«Jane had been speaking for Seth for six years when she posed for me. I don’t regard my unsigned effort as being a finished work. It was just the best I could do at the time» — al pie de su retrato al óleo de Jane Roberts, de 1969, juzga su propio cuadro sin firmar.
«Jane died in the hospital at 2:08 4.nt, on Wednesday, September 5, 1984, after being there, quite helpless in certain ways, for a year and nine months. It was the third time she'd been hospitalized since February 1982» — data la muerte de Jane Roberts y su última hospitalización.
«This book is dedicated to my husband, Robert F. Butts, for his love and devotion» — la dedicatoria que firma Jane Roberts en ese volumen.
«This book is dedicated to Seth, and to Rob, my husband» — la dedicatoria de The Seth Material, catorce años antes.
«© 1970 by Jane Roberts and Robert Butts © 2001 by Robert Butts © 2011 by Laurel Davies-Butts» — la página de derechos lo pone como cotitular del copyright de 1970 y titular único del de 2001, y pasa el de 2011 a Laurel Davies-Butts.
«© 1974 Jane Roberts © 1994 Robert F. Butts Co-published by Amber-Allen Publishing and New World Library Editorial Office: Distribution Office: AMBER-ALLEN PUBLISHING NEW WORLD LIBRARY P.O.
«In this life Ruburt is called Jane, and her husband, Robert Butts, takes down the words that Jane speaks.
«Seth calls Jane “Ruburt” and me “Joseph.” According to him, these “entity names» — la explicación que él mismo da de esos dos nombres, atribuida a Seth.
«Much in the same way as Jane Roberts and her husband, Robert Butts, were said to have discovered “Seth,” Jessica and her husband, Walter (also a fictitious name), decided to play with their Ouija board after dinner one evening» — Jon Klimo lo nombra como el marido con quien Jane Roberts habría descubierto a Seth, y usa el episodio como patrón para otro caso.
