A Fundamental Report (Mysterium Pansophicum, 1620) By Jacob Boehme With a Translation, Introduction, and Commentary by Andrew Weeks and Günther Bonheim in Collaboration with Michael Spang as Editor of Gründlicher Bericht LEIDEN • BOSTON 2013» «Jacob Boehme — Aurora, The Day-Spring (trad.
Ahí declara en primera persona su texto base «The text of Gründlicher Bericht reconstituted in this volume is based on a copymadebyMichaelEndervonSercha(Buddecke-Verzeichnis,no.71» «Jacob Boehme — Aurora, The Day-Spring (trad. The reader must bear in mind that without an autograph the reconstituted text can only approximate Boehme’s version» «Jacob Boehme — Aurora, The Day-Spring (trad.
La portada reparte los tres trabajos entre él y Andrew Weeks y nombra a Michael Spang «as Editor of Gründlicher Bericht» «Jacob Boehme — Aurora, The Day-Spring (trad. John Sparrow; ed. Dekton Publishing, 2022), trad. alemán e inglés enfrentados 2013 · p. 4». El cuerpo dice otra cosa: Weeks, en primera persona, llama al escrito «Günther Bonheim’s new critical edition of a small writing best known by its Latin title Mysterium Pansophicum (1620) has been included in this volume along with my translation and commentary both because of its strong intrinsic interest and in order to call attention to the need for and potential benefits of a complete critical edition» «Jacob Boehme — Aurora, The Day-Spring (trad.
Weeks le adjudica además dos cosas que no están en la portada: la restitución del título «Already the title restored by Bonheim prepares the reader to expect less a timeless echo of eternal mystical themes than an account of urgent concerns, onemightalmostsayareactiontobreakingnews» «Jacob Boehme — Aurora, The Day-Spring (trad.

15 entries — the author's own voice, with its source and passage«The text of Gründlicher Bericht reconstituted in this volume is based on a copymadebyMichaelEndervonSercha(Buddecke-Verzeichnis,no.71» — la sección D del comentario va firmada por Günther Bonheim y declara su base textual: una copia de Michael Ender von Sercha.
«Nonetheless, fewer uncertainties surround the provenance of 71 than of 101b (Bernhard) or 72 (Sommerfeld).
«Any reproduced spelling and punctuation would of course not be Boehme’s. In order to avoid false claims of authenticity, the text is reconstituted in a form that precludes the appearance of meaningful divergence from the norm of the autographs and copies. The exceptions to this normalization of the peculiarities of the base text are instances in which an orthographic peculiarity was, or at least could have been, acoustically perceptible» — el principio con que la sostiene: la ortografía y la puntuación reproducidas no serían de todos modos del autor, y para evitar falsas pretensiones de autenticidad el texto se reconstituye en forma que excluya la apariencia de divergencia significativa, salvo donde una particularidad ortográfica fuera o pudiera ser perceptible al oído.
«As the reader can see from the autograph of Aurora, Boehme used only periods (for terminating paragraphs) and the obsolete Virgel (/) for most other purposes.»
«Only the setting of words in all capitals and the use of Latin characters instead of German are found in Boehme’s autographs.»
«I have not attempted to reproduce rigorously all the characters of the base text. Doing so wouldnot discloseany specifics ofBoehme’s original.
«Where Ender or Sommerfeld changed his Virgel to their comma, this affected meaning. Thus, where the original with its less distinct relationship between words or clauses permits multiple interpretations, the ambiguity is reduced by their hyphens, commas, and exclamation or question marks» — y la consecuencia que eso tiene para el sentido: donde Ender o Sommerfeld cambiaron la Virgel por su coma, eso afectó al sentido, porque la ambigüedad que el original permite queda reducida por sus guiones, comas y signos de admiración o interrogación.
«The subdivision into nine numbered paragraphs follows the base text. Divergences in the paragraph division of the texts are explained in my footnotes, as is the use of square brackets» — la división del texto que Bonheim declara: los nueve párrafos numerados siguen el texto base, y las divergencias de división y el uso de los corchetes se explican en sus notas.
«I have adopted the underlining, reproducing it as italic, and the capitalization from the base copy with divergences in the other copies cited in my footnotes. The underlining in 101b was so prevalent that it has to be taken as a peculiarity of the copyist. It is therefore not cited» — otra decisión de Bonheim, con su excepción dentro: adopta el subrayado y las mayúsculas de la copia base, reproduciendo el subrayado como cursiva y citando en nota las divergencias de las otras, salvo el de la 101b, tan abundante que lo toma por peculiaridad del copista y no lo cita.
«The reader must bear in mind that without an autograph the reconstituted text can only approximate Boehme’s version» — la salvedad con que Bonheim cierra ese apartado, y que gobierna la lectura de todo el texto alemán del volumen: sin autógrafo, el texto reconstituido solo puede aproximarse a la versión del autor.
«The first, which bears the number 71 in Buddecke’s registry, is held by the University Library of Wrocław in Poland withthecatalognumberAKC.1975/252.Itisinacollectionthatcontainstwo writings by Boehme (Gründlicher Bericht and Vierzig Fragen von der Seele) as well as an illustration representing his symbol, “Philosophical Sphere.” The copies were written by Michael Ender in 1620 or a little later in black, red, and green ink, about 20 by 15.5cm. and 147 pages in length.
«The second, which bears the number 72 in Buddecke’s registry, is also found in the University Library of Wrocław with the catalog number AKC. 1975/271. It is a collection that contains three writings by Boehme (Gründlicher Bericht, Vierzig Fragen von der Seele, and Von dem Dreyfachen Leben des Menschen—the latter bears the number 66 in Buddecke’s registry), as well as an illustration representing “The Philosophical Sphere.” The copies were written by a scribe of Abraham von Sommerfeld, possibly at the end of the third decade of the seventeenth century. A note at the end of Vierzig Fragen reads as follows: “Dieses Theÿl ist mit Göttlicher verleihung Anno 1629.Zumdrittenmallnachgeschrieben”(Withdivineconferralthispartwas copied in 1629 for the third time). The copy is written in black and red ink. It is about 30.5 by 20.5cm. and 330 pages in length.
«The third, which bears the number 101b in Buddecke’s registry, is found in the Herzog August Library in Wolfenbüttel, Germany, with the catalog number Cod. Guelf. 778 Helmst. It is a collection containing numerous writings of various authors from the seventeenth century. Most of the copyists are unknown. The size of the full document is about 20.5 by 16cm. and 462 pagesinlength.ThecopyoftheGründlicherBericht waswrittenbyChristian Bernhard in 1620 or a little later with brown ink.
«In the commentary, “edit” refers to the edition of 1730 (Mysterium Pansophicum.
About the author
5 entries — what others say about them«Aurora (Morgen Röte im auffgang, 1612) and Ein gründlicher Bericht or A Fundamental Report (Mysterium Pansophicum, 1620) By Jacob Boehme With a Translation, Introduction, and Commentary by Andrew Weeks and Günther Bonheim in Collaboration with Michael Spang as Editor of Gründlicher Bericht LEIDEN • BOSTON 2013» — la portada del volumen lo imprime segundo entre los tres nombres modernos y le adjudica, junto con Andrew Weeks, los tres trabajos a la vez —traducción, introducción y comentario—, mientras deja a Michael Spang como editor del Gründlicher Bericht.
«Günther Bonheim’s new critical edition of a small writing best known by its Latin title Mysterium Pansophicum (1620) has been included in this volume along with my translation and commentary both because of its strong intrinsic interest and in order to call attention to the need for and potential benefits of a complete critical edition» — Andrew Weeks, en primera persona y en el cuerpo del mismo volumen, le adjudica a él la edición crítica nueva del escrito y reserva para sí la traducción y el comentario.
«There is fairly substantial evidence that those copies may have been based on an earlier draft of the work which later became the basis of the first printed verson of Aurora» — la nota 2 de la introducción le adjudica una objeción sobre las copias de la Aurora que circularon: pudieron venir de un borrador anterior que luego quedó de base para la primera impresión. El troceo escribe *verson* por *version*.
«This is the broad spectrum of plausible interpretations: the cryptographic, the gnostic or esoteric, the philosophical, the literary, and the blended spiritualistic-materialistic.»
