WHERE THE HOUSE STANDS · IN THE FIRST PERSON
Where we stand
Everything else on this site records what each work says, with its passage. This page says where we read it from. It is ours, it is signed, and it too ties every quotation to its passage.
This site is an archive of declared positions. Every claim you find about a work carries the passage that supports it, and when a work does not say something, we do not put it in its mouth. That rigor does not change. But an archive that never says where it looks from is not neutral either; it only hides its point of view. We think it is essential to say it, because that gaze feeds the site and the site feeds the gaze.
We start from consciousness as primary. It is not a late product of matter; it is the condition of every experience, including the experience of measuring matter. "Consciousness is the only immediate certainty" (our translation of «La consciencia es la única certeza inmediata» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 99»). "Every statement about matter, energy or physical processes happens within consciousness" (our translation of «Toda afirmación sobre la materia, la energía o los procesos físicos ocurre dentro de la consciencia» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 100»). The material is real, but it is not the origin: "Matter is not the origin but the most opaque end of a process of manifestation" (our translation of «La materia no es el origen, sino el extremo más opaco de un proceso de manifestación» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 101»). That view does not deny the physical; it explains why the physical appears stable, regular and held up by a principle that is not material.
This is the declared bias of this site. Our position has changed over the years and will surely change again, but not on one fundamental point: consciousness is primary, and the soul is the I Am within a scale of integration that culminates in a Universal Consciousness. In the words of the Umbral: "the spirit, Mercury, is universal consciousness, identical in every being; the soul, Sulphur, is the personality, the accumulated experience, what individualizes. What survives death is neither one nor the other on its own, but the quality of their conjunction" (our translation of «el espíritu, Mercurio, es la consciencia universal, idéntica en todos los seres; el alma, Azufre, es la personalidad, la experiencia acumulada, lo que individualiza. Lo que sobrevive a la muerte no es ni lo uno ni lo otro por separado, sino la calidad de su conjunción» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 419»). Everything else is open to revision, and we will revise it here, in plain sight.
From there follows correspondence. The hermetic axiom, as above so below, as within so without, is for us not a poetic figure but a statement of correspondence between levels of reality. "The microcosm reflects the macrocosm because both emerge from one intelligible matrix" (our translation of «El microcosmos refleja el macrocosmos porque ambos emergen de una misma matriz inteligible» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 135»). A procedure on matter is, at the same time, a procedure on consciousness, because the two ends are the same gradient walked in opposite directions.
And it follows that the observer is inside. "The world is not something that first exists and is then perceived; it is something that is articulated within experience itself" (our translation of «El mundo no es algo que primero existe y luego se percibe; es algo que se articula dentro de la experiencia misma» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 123»). "To observe is not to reflect a neutral fact passively, but to draw a boundary" (our translation of «Observar no es reflejar pasivamente un hecho neutro, sino trazar una frontera» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 124»). So there is no reading of an esoteric tradition that is not a reading from somewhere, and that is why we say where ours is.
What this changes when reading alchemy. A treatise on metals, vitriols and furnaces is a chemical procedure and, at the same time, a spiritual one. Not because the metal is a metaphor for the soul, but because the work is one and is looked at from two sides. "Producing gold is not only a material goal: it is the outward sign of a deeper transformation" (our translation of «Producir oro no es solo un objetivo material: es el signo externo de una transformación más profunda» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 365»). And the other way round: the inner reading does not dissolve the laboratory. "Alchemy did not turn into psychology, nor did it dissolve into metaphor" (our translation of «La alquimia no se convirtió en psicología ni se disolvió en metáfora» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 373»). The operator is not outside either: "The act of observation is what starts the separation of the Mercury" (our translation of «El acto de observación es lo que inicia la separación del Mercurio» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 387»).
What varies between authors is not the work, nor the first matter, which takes mineral, vegetable and animal forms, nor the methods. What varies is where each one looks from. And we only know that point of view when an author speaks about the work, not from within it. A recipe places no one. That is why, on our maps, a voice holds a position only when it says so in its own words, and when it does not, the map shows it as undeclared, which is also a fact.
Traditions are interfaces, not stages. "Without an interface, no experience is possible" (our translation of «Sin interfaz, no hay experiencia posible» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 264»): to know is always to translate the real into a form consciousness can work with. Religion, magic, art and science are four such translations, and none is the primitive version of another. "An interface is not a cognitive error nor a cultural illusion. It is a technology of relation" (our translation of «Una interfaz no es un error cognitivo ni una ilusión cultural. Es una tecnología de relación» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 447»). What modernity did with esotericism was to close an interface: "The symbol that acts was reclassified as the symbol that illustrates" (our translation of «El símbolo que actúa fue reclasificado como símbolo que ilustra» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 293»). We open it again, with the same demand we would make of any other: "The observer is not neutral: it is part of the instrument of knowledge" (our translation of «El observador no es neutral: forma parte del instrumento de conocimiento» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 466»). And with one consequence for the material: "Matter is not the opposite of consciousness but its state of maximum condensation" (our translation of «La materia no es lo opuesto a la consciencia, sino su estado de máxima condensación» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 276»).
What this stance does not do. It does not judge traditions by their doctrine, nor correct them. It does not turn what a work says into what we say. We always keep two layers apart: the record, with its passage, which belongs to the work; and the reading, which is ours and signed. When we take a position in the videos, we take it from here, and we say so.
Why it matters. If consciousness is the foundation and not the residue, "then its expansion is not a spiritual luxury" (our translation of «entonces su expansión no es un lujo espiritual» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 164»). The traditions gathered here, alchemy, magic, hermetism and their relatives in other languages, were not for us primitive science or nascent religion. They were, and are, ways of walking that gradient with method. "Alchemy does not promise an escape from the world. It teaches that consciousness learns by becoming embodied" (our translation of «La alquimia no promete escapar del mundo. Enseña que la consciencia aprende encarnándose» «El Umbral de la Consciencia (2026, en curso) · p. 439»). We read the corpus to learn how, and so that you can read it with us, with every passage in sight.
