La edición imprime «THE SEEN», pero la propia frase pide lo contrario —solo podemos describir lo que vemos, y por eso hace falta el símbolo—: la lectura propuesta es «THE UNSEEN», y no se corrige dentro de las comillas.

«As the number 12 includes the sacred numbers, 3, 5, 7, and 3 times 3, or 9, and is produced by adding the sacred number 3 to 9; while its own two figures, 1, 2, the unit or monad, and duad, added together, make the same sacred number 3; it was called the perfect number; and the cube became the symbol of perfection.» — su razón numérica para que el cubo simbolice la perfección: el 12 contiene los números sagrados 3, 5, 7 y tres veces 3, y sus dos cifras suman de nuevo 3.
