The Way Toward Health

The Way Toward Health.

Lo publica su marido, Robert Butts, trece años después, y lo abre diciendo qué tiene dentro: «he Way Teward Health is more than an account of the stay — and death — of my wite, Jane Roberts, in a hospital in Elmira, New» «Roberts — The Way Toward Health (1997) · p. 9» (el volumen pierde la capital inicial de cada capítulo en la capa de texto, y aquí se perdió la T de *The*), y no solo «Not only aboutJane’s fine wbility to speak in a trance or dissociated state for Seth, that “energy personality essence,” as he calls hiraself» «Roberts — The Way Toward Health (1997) · p. 9».

El catálogo de la casa encabeza «BOOKS BY JANE ROBERTS» «Roberts — The Way Toward Health (1997) · p. 4» y data el título «The Way Toward Fleatth, A Seth Book. (997)» «Roberts — The Way Toward Health (1997) · p. 4»; la ficha de la Library of Congress encabeza el asiento por otro nombre y deja a Roberts como vía: «‘The way toward health / (channeled ty] Jane Roberts: Joceword and notes by Robert F Butts.» «Roberts — The Way Toward Health (1997) · p. 6»; y el único copyright del volumen es de Butts, «Copyright © 1997 by Robert F Betts» «Roberts — The Way Toward Health (1997) · p. 6».

TUESDAY.» «Roberts — The Way Toward Health (1997) · p. 14» abre la primera. El dictado se anuncia a sí mismo dentro de esa sesión: «I am indeed adding book dictation — at our own pace, considering the circumstances» «Roberts — The Way Toward Health (1997) · p. 15», y el título lo pone Roberts, no Seth, según anota Butts: «Jane said that as soon as she gave the last sentence from Seth she thought the title of the book would be The Way Towaicl Health, Ske aidin’s actually pick that up froma Seth, it just came so har» «Roberts — The Way Toward Health (1997) · p. 16».

El aparato que rodea al dictado es de Butts y él declara cómo se levantó y qué se le quitó: «During those 21 months in the hospital, Jane, Seth, and 1 said much about her physical psychic condition, and 1 recorded it all in may homemade shorthand as best 1 could under often very stressful» «Roberts — The Way Toward Health (1997) · p. 10». El prólogo va firmado «Robert F. Butts Elmira, New York ‘September 1997» «Roberts — The Way Toward Health (1997) · p. 12» y el volumen lo publica Amber-Allen: «Pubsished by Amberallen Publishing, tne.» «Roberts — The Way Toward Health (1997) · p. 6».

DECLARADA
The way toward health / (channeled ty] Jane Roberts: Joceword and notes by Robert F Butts.» (p. 6). «Our lives, I've learned, don’t simply proceed nicely and directly from “birth” to “death.” Instead, I see each one of us as waveling a most cvrious and branching out or circuitous route, one that is creative in ways that are both known and, I'm sure now, unknown» — Butts, en su prólogo, niega que la vida vaya derecha del nacimiento a la muerte y la describe como ruta curiosa y ramificada, creativa de maneras conocidas y desconocidas.

«Ab, there’s the challenge, then — to understand onc inherent creativity, We can ty to mold it, to make it conform or behave, but each life has a life of its own» — Butts sitúa el desafío en entender la creatividad propia y señala que se la puede intentar moldear, pero que cada vida tiene vida propia.

«My wife's life and work show that we can even create challenges and goals before birth, then iin physical fife phange into fulfilling those qualities as we don flesh and clothing and beliefs» — Butts sostiene que la vida y la obra de Roberts muestran que los desafíos y las metas se crean antes de nacer y se cumplen al vestirse uno de carne, ropa y creencias.

«Jane died in the hospital at 2:08 4.nt, on Wednesday, September 5, 1984, after being there, quite helpless in certain ways, for a year and nine months» — Butts fecha la muerte de Roberts a las 2:08 de la madrugada del miércoles 5 de septiembre de 1984, tras un año y nueve meses de hospital.

«It was the third time she'd been hospitalized since February 1982» — Butts consigna que fue la tercera hospitalización desde febrero de 1982.

«Since her death many have written to both sympathize and to ask “Why?” She had Seth, didn’t she — for whom she spoke for some 221 years; she also produced six books with him along the way (plus a number of books on her “own"). Why hadn't Seth gotten her out of her dilemma, turned the magic key in the proper psychic lock?» — Butts recoge la pregunta que le llegó por carta tras la muerte de Roberts, que tenía a Seth y para quien hablaba desde hacía veintiún años, y la enuncia sin contestarla ahí: por qué Seth no la sacó del aprieto.

«She was only 56 years old when she died. She could have lived, for another 20 years, say, and contributed even more to our knowledge, both with Seth and by herself. She could have become world famous hhad she chosen to go that route» — Butts enumera lo que quedó sin ocurrir: veinte años más de vida, más aportación con Seth y por sí misma, y una fama mundial que estaba a su alcance.

«Jane was a human being first, and a very gifted psychic second. Seth did help her, many many times over the years» — Butts ordena los términos: Roberts fue primero un ser humano y después una psíquica muy dotada, y afirma que Seth sí la ayudó muchas veces.

«Jane and I learned that there exist great reals of knowledge and Feeling as yet largely unrevealed. It would have been even finer tn tap into those wondrous mazes much more, but we did the best we could» — Butts declara que hay reinos de conocimiento y de sentimiento aún sin revelar y admite que no alcanzaron a entrar más en ellos.

«Seth still helps my wife, I’m sure. They're united now, and in larger terms also meeting with many others they know from the» — Butts sostiene que Seth sigue ayudando a su mujer y que ahora están unidos.

«Because of certain drewms I believe that even portions of my own entity (Seth calls me Joseph) are joining in, Well, why not, since as Seth describes reality, everything exists at the same» — Butts atribuye a ciertos sueños su creencia de que partes de su propia entidad, a la que Seth llama Joseph, se suman a ese encuentro, y lo apoya en el cuadro de Seth donde todo existe a la vez.

«unconscious levels — or both — that we were uuterly ourselves while learning along the way» — Butts cierra su cuadro de la vida como ruta ramificada diciendo que al final se entiende, en lo consciente o en lo inconsciente, que uno fue enteramente él mismo mientras aprendía; la frase arranca a media oración porque el troceo corta la plana ahí.

«this book shows, then, that the ways toward health can and do vary tremendously. In some stubborn and psychically grounded way we each are going to make our own choices, ax human beings always have» — Butts lee el libro como muestra de que los caminos hacia la salud varían enormemente y de que cada quien hace sus propias elecciones de un modo terco y arraigado en lo psíquico.

«Surely Jane’s life shows this, and in ways thac ni ther of us were even remotely aware of conscionsly when we married.

«For weeks after her admittance in April, | didn't know if Jane would ever do any “psychic” work again, but three months later she sure prised me by beginning a series of dialognes similar to the “world: view" material she'd produced for her books on the psychologist and philosopher William James, and the arcist Paul Cécanne» — Butts cuenta que tras el ingreso de abril no sabía si Roberts volvería a hacer trabajo psíquico, y que tres meses después ella empezó una serie de diálogos parecidos al material de visión del mundo de sus libros sobre William James y sobre Paul Cézanne.

«Once again, she was inspired by my questions on art and related matters. “At least 1 feel I'm doing something I'm made tor,» — Butts se atribuye las preguntas sobre arte que inspiraron la serie y cita a Roberts diciendo que al menos sentía estar haciendo algo para lo que estaba hecha.

«She concluded it in Sepember 1983, then cover the next four months delivered a series of 71 mostly short, wnoxtly persemal Seth sessions. She finished that series on January 1984 — and began The Way Toward Health the next day» — Butts data la cadena: la serie termina en septiembre de 1983, siguen setenta y un sesiones de Seth breves y sobre todo personales, y el día después de acabarlas empieza este libro.

«Doringall of this time, we told no one in the hospital what we were specifically doing — staffacceptet ont convernional explanation that we were writers and "just working.» — Butts consigna que no dijeron al hospital lo que hacían y que el personal aceptó la explicación de que eran escritores trabajando.

«Inevitably, however, much had to be omitted from The Woy ‘Toward Health as it's presented here — not Seth's material, but from Jane's and my work and notes. J owe a great deal to the very considerate help of Janet Mills, the proprietor of Amber-Allen Publishing» — Butts declara qué se recortó y qué no: no el material de Seth sino el trabajo y las notas de Roberts y suyas, y agradece la ayuda de Janet Mills, la propietaria de Amber-Allen.

«We saw that if all of the peripheral material for each session wat incided, the book would he very long. (1 had a number of personal experiences and insights that I thought enhanced concepts of the Seth material, for example.) But what to cut, when to stop?

«When Jane began delivering the Seth material in 1963, I became very conscious of the record we'd leave, not with Seth but concerning our private lives. The one can't help but add to the othe increasing the marvelous complexity of both» — Butts data en 1963 el comienzo del material de Seth y dice que desde entonces fue consciente del registro que dejaban, no con Seth sino sobre su vida privada.

«Long ago I came to believe that nothing exists in isolation; to omit some of the record Jeaves gaps, obviously, Hardly an original idea, yet one that 1 often. see ignored in the surface activities of our daily lives» — Butts sostiene que nada existe aislado y que omitir parte del registro deja huecos, y observa que la idea, sin ser original, se ignora en la vida diaria.

«Other facets of ‘our physical and nonphysical lives could help us tremendousiy if more conscious attention was given to them, regardless of» — Butts propone que otras facetas de la vida física y no física ayudarían mucho si se les prestara más atención consciente, sin importar cuándo ocurrieron.

«Often our dreams doorways to other realities. Yet I know that we're delving ever re dceply into our psyches; Jane’s work with Seth, as well as her try and other writings, show that. The great gifts of our psyches» — Butts llama a los sueños puertas a otras realidades, dice que se está entrando cada vez más hondo en la psique y declara que los dones de la psique están ahí, esperando; la capa de texto pierde el verbo de la primera oración.

«But how can we — how can anyone — bring more of our inherent Knowledge to consciousness, to use? How can we become more keenly aware of the facts and implications of our dreams, for example, and» — Butts deja abierta la pregunta de cómo traer a la conciencia más del conocimiento propio y cómo advertir mejor los hechos y las implicaciones de los sueños; la frase sigue en la plana siguiente.

«3:15, Jane began ruding ysierday’s session — and she dik very well, even better than yestertbcy» — Butts anota que Roberts leyó la sesión del día anterior y lo hizo mejor que la víspera.

«Eiyro, as stall members call it, is shore aytro-herepy depart. ment. Each mioriting, June i placed upon a litter dit is Iuwered inta a barge tub af sgenilfawiiing warn: water thst massages her hole body, ‘The wreatencnt Is wry Felnung, very Zeneficial, expecially for hedenres» — la nota al pie de Butts explica qué es la hidroterapia del hospital: cada mañana bajan a Roberts en una camilla a una tina de agua tibia que le masajea el cuerpo entero, y la declara muy relajante.

«Nove I bid you another fond good afternoon. (Good afternoon, Seth.”)

«Twanted you to know (pause) that new developments concerning the [medical] insurance situation. are occurring, to your benefit» — Seth, según Roberts, dedica la primera intervención del libro a un asunto doméstico, el seguro médico de la pareja.

«An added note: Whin you cau, a gene massaging of the saps of Ruburt’s* toes, by the nails, and perhaps down a bit toward the first joints, will help increase the body’s entire circulation, Karlie, he would not have been able to respond. This only need take a few moments» — Seth, según Roberts, prescribe masajear las puntas de los dedos de los pies de Ruburt para aumentar la circulación del cuerpo entero, y señala que antes ella no habría podido responder.

«Asalveays, the session format sets up its own accelerated healing framework» — Seth, según Roberts, sostiene que el formato mismo de la sesión monta un marco de curación acelerada.

«his morning at 10:00, I took a speciat delivery package from the postman — a translation in French of The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events. Others of our books ave being translated also» — Butts abre la primera sesión del libro con la nota del día: llegó por correo la traducción francesa de The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events, y otros libros de la pareja también se traducen; la capital inicial del capítulo se pierde en la capa de texto y el troceo devuelve *his* por *This*.

«When he began dictating Suh Speuks way buck in Jexsuary 1970, Seta told we" write this book through the auspices of a woman of whom I Lave become quite foud. To others it seems stange that ] address her as “Rubmet,’ and ‘him,’ but the act ie thar I fave known her in other tnses and placea, by other names. She has been both -nan and a woman, and the entire identity who has lived chese separate lives can he designated by the name of Ruburt.»

«Upon checking, I verified my original guess, thut she'd first done on outline fer Tne Way Toward Health in Volume One of The “Unknown” Reality. That book was published in 1977, See Appendise 7» — Butts consigna que Roberts había esbozado The Way Toward Health años antes, en el volumen uno de The *Unknown* Reality, publicado en 1977, y remite a su apéndice 7.

«It shonild be telatively easy to identify those portions — eYes.") — and Ruburt will be able to do so easily, iF ever you have difÏculty; knowing when one portion begins and another ends» — Seth, según Roberts, sostiene que las porciones de dictado de libro se distinguen con facilidad del resto de la sesión y que Ruburt sabrá hacerlo si alguna vez él tiene dificultad.

«Amd I told her that her statement reminded me that the same thought had come to me a evuple of times previously after 11d been pretty sure that Seth was giving dock wor,» — Butts anota que el mismo título se le había ocurrido a él un par de veces antes, cuando ya estaba bastante seguro de que Seth daba dictado de libro.

«The minute before Isuéd Twas going to have a session, that iden came ‘into my mind,” Jane said. "T knew it was from Seth» — Butts cita a Roberts contando que la idea le llegó a la mente justo antes de decir que iba a haber sesión y que supo que venía de Seth.

«As I discussed the evenis of today with Jane, and watched them on TY, it came to me that they might signal at least @ beginining of those very beneficial workd events Seth had refnrved to for the cumin yea én the session for December 28, 1983, Jane didn’t knute, ond I'm not leaping to any conclusions» — Butts anota que los sucesos políticos del día, la liberación del aviador estadounidense por la gestión de Jesse Jackson ante Assad, podrían ser el comienzo de los sucesos mundiales benéficos que Seth había anunciado en la sesión del 28 de diciembre de 1983, y se guarda de concluir nada.

Conceptos tratados
